"Standing"
Philippians 4:1 (NKJV) Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.
Throughout the Bible we learn that standing is a great place to be.
Moses stood at the burning bush:
Exodus 3:5 Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground."
The tribe of Levi stood as they served the Lord:
Deuteronomy 10:8 At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to Him and to bless in His name, to this day.
The house of the righteous will stand:
Proverbs 12:7 The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous will stand.
Jesus even says He stands at the door knocking:
Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
It is important for us to stand, to stand strong in adversity, to stand up for our faith, and to stand still as God works in our lives.
Stand fast in the Lord today.
Standing in Him,
Pastor Ed
RESPONSE:
I am out the door to take my little munchkin to school but I wanted to give you a bit of a praise report. Last week I was doing an in-depth study on spiritual warfare and the origin of Satan and demons and the teachers that I was listening to gave a bit of a warning that every time they taught on the subject of Satan they would suffer depression afterwards. I was pretty skeptical at first but during days 2, 3, and 4 of this study I was wondering why I was feeling so absolutely horrible and even down right irritated at everything and everyone and hadn't taken thought to the warning that was given. I mean I was being unkind to everyone around me and it took all the strength I could muster up not to go off on the people I love the most. My prayer time was hindered and I just couldn't figure out what in the world was wrong with me. Then as I realized what was happening and that the enemy had been beating me up. I cried out to God in brokenness casting it all upon Him and He sooooooo rescued me right out of the horrible pit I was in! Ever since then I feel like God has brought me to a whole new level in my time alone with Him each morning in prayer and in His word. I have a new patience with my daughter, the woman I am courting, her children, and my dad at work (which is a miracle in and of itself). He is working through me in witnessing and preaching to the lost, which has just been greatly a blessing! Praise God!!!!! We serve such an awesome God!!
