Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

What does the Colorado Homeschool Law say?

1. I am worried about registering and then having to miss a Mom's Night.  How strict is this commitment that I am making?

Please do not let the "commitment" aspect of the group scare you.  We are really asking for dedication - so that we can come together as home schooling moms and be there for each other for encouragement, advice, fellowship, and prayer.  We know that it helps to have accountability as it sometimes helps us to make the choice between coming to a Mom's Night and being filled up with the Word and fellowship of others or staying home and falling into a rut of feeling empty and inadequate.  We understand that there might be a Mom's Night that you are on vacation, or sick, or have an out of town hubby, it is ok to miss those nights.  Our goal is to provide a reminder each month that you are not alone and that you CAN do it.

2. I am home schooling one of my children, but I have other children who are younger.  Presentation Day is a challenge because my younger children have a hard time sitting quietly and it is a distraction to the presenters and the audience.  Can I still sign up for Heart 2 Heart so that I can get the Mom's Nights benefits without signing up for the Presentation Days?

Yes.  We understand that each family goes through different stages in life.  We have all gone through the stress of trying to keep a young child quiet and seated and we have all had moments when that young child decides that he/she doesn't WANT to sit quietly and in fact WANTS to jump and run and play and sometimes even scream.  Oh! The joys of parenting, sigh.....

With that being said, know that if your young child does become a distraction during an event - the other parents DO understand and although you should try to minimize the distraction and maybe even step out of the room, it does not disqualify you from coming again.

You are the best judge of what is best for your family.  If you do not feel they are ready, or if it is too much of a stressor on you, you may choose to not attend.  The Mom's Nights are NOT off limits to you if you decide that Presentation Day or any of the other events are not beneficial to your family.

3. I am running behind and have not had a chance to fill out the Registration Forms.  I can get them there by Sunday, is that too late?

It is not too late.  We have the deadline in place so that we can get everything set up and begin planning for the year.  We very much appreciate having the registrations by Aug. 19th, but you can sign up at any time during the year.  We do need to have a signed Enrollment Form on file for you if you are attending our events, but the registration does not have an end date.  Please feel free to invite friends throughout the year, we will accept Enrollment Forms at any time.

4. I have a friend who is not yet a believer, can she join the group?

Because Heart 2 Heart Homeschooling is a ministry of Calvary Chapel, Aurora, we have the privilege and responsibility to share the Gospel with the lost.  If a non-believing friend would like to register and become a part of Heart 2 Heart Homeschooling, they are welcome.  They may attend Mom's Nights and other events as long as they are aware that we are a Christ centered group.  We do pray in groups and we do share the Gospel regularly.  If they are comfortable with that and if they agree to our Policies and Procedures, then they are welcome to join.

We do need everyone who would like to join our co-op however, to fully agree with the Calvary Chapel, Aurora Statement of Faith.

Most of the questions that I have gotten involve moms wondering if they are welcome because of different circumstances in their lives.  Please call or email me if you have questions or reservations, I am noticing that once a question gets cleared up, these ladies feel more confident in their choice to join or not.
