Lindsy Morton Tucker
I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior in 1991 at a Vacation Bible School in California, and grew up going to school at Maranatha Christian Academy in Costa Mesa. I was constantly surrounded by encouragement, love and the Spirit of God. Life was comfortable for me, and God knew my heart needed to be stirred and rekindled for Him.
I was in 6th grade, 12 years old and cruising through life when my dad came home one night asking our family if we wanted to move to Denver, Colorado. Being the spontaneous, crazy 12 year old I was, I screamed YES without thinking about what moving to Colorado would actually mean.
Two weeks after my dad brought the decision to our family, we were in a U-Haul van driving to Colorado in the middle of winter. I was in middle school, knowing nothing but Orange County life, and I instantly thought I had died when I stepped across state lines into Colorado. It was dry, cold, brown and I didn’t have a friend... but O what a friend I found in Jesus. He had used this drastic lifestyle change to teach me that He would always stick closer than a brother, that He would never leave me or forsake me and that He had a plan for my little life.
During the loneliness and sadness I began to teach myself how to play an old guitar my family had in the house, and started learning and writing worship songs to Jesus. I have found in my life that it’s out of the ugliest and darkest ashes that Jesus bring the most beauty, and looking back on this hard time brings only sweet thankfulness to my heart.
As I learned guitar and began to sing, the Lord started to open doors for me to serve at my church. When I was 14 years old I became the worship leader for Calvary Chapel Brighton, and the Lord used that time to teach me so many things about worship and His grace to enable us to serve Him. My family made another move, this time across the state to the other side of Colorado where we attended Calvary Chapel South Denver. It was at this church that I was really discipled in the area of worship, and I learned to play with skill before the Lord while pouring my heart out to Him. I was encouraged to share my music to bless and encourage other believers, and again God opened doors to share His love with so many people. I made a CD, started to travel around the country leading worship and sharing the gospel in song at various churches and coffee shops, and the Lord just continued to open doors and present opportunities.
I have been traveling, worshipping, writing and recording since 2004 and it is such a blessing and privilege to be serving Jesus. Calvary Chapel Aurora - in Aurora, CO - is currently my home church, and it is at this church that I met the love of my life (my husband) John Tucker. We were married in 2010 and we have both been so amazed at how the Lord works and is working in our lives as well as so many other’s lives.
So that in a few words is how I came to know Jesus, start playing guitar, make CD’s, get married and become LINDSY TUCKER... I pray my story is an encouragement to you; to know, that whatever circumstances you find yourself in today, that God is working it ALL together for good! Be Blessed as you continue your journey with Jesus, knowing He will never leave you or forsake you and that He is a friend that will always be closer than a brother.
If you read my testimony and don’t know Jesus, but you want to know Jesus... Here is the Good News!
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son; that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.”
We are all sinners. Psalm 53 says: “God looks down from heaven upon the children of men… every one of them has turned aside… there is no one who does good, no, not one.” And Romans 3:23 says: “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God…”
Our sin separates us from God… But because God loves us so much, and desires to have a personal relationship with us, He provided a sacrifice that would pay the price for our sin. Romans 6:23 says: “For the wages of sin is death…” Which means that the only thing that can pay for our sin is death, and death is the punishment that we deserve.
Jesus, the one and only Son of God, came to earth and lived a perfect sinless life. He was crucified even though He was completely innocent. He received the punishment that we deserved. He was the perfect sacrifice, He was put into our place and took on Himself the sentence of death that should have been ours.
So, Romans 5:8 tells us that “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” That means that Jesus Christ died for your sin! And according to Ephesians 2:8-9 which says: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast”… this means that the forgiveness of our sin and a personal relationship with God is His gift to us!!! There is nothing we can do to get to heaven. It isn’t by works, but by saying yes to and accepting God’s gift to us: Jesus. All you have to do is ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins, and you will be forgiven! And as it says above in John 3:16, whoever believes in the power of Jesus’ death and resurrection will never die but have eternal life with God.
Yes, that’s right, His resurrection! Jesus did not remain dead, but He conquered death and rose to life… and now we too have the awesome gift of everlasting life with Christ!
Romans 10: 9 says “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved…”
So, if you want to accept Jesus and be saved, pray to Him right now and ask Him to forgive you for your sins… because 1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
If you are willing to repent of your sin, He is waiting to forgive you. It doesn`t matter what you have done in the past, if you cry out to Jesus for forgiveness, He will not reject you. The word "repent" literally means "to turn away from." You need to look at your life, admit that you are a sinner, genuinely desire to turn your back on that sin, and ask Him to forgive you. If you do this, He promises to forgive you.
True Christianity is not about attending a particular church, or how your parents raised you, or what country you were born in. Being a Christian means that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that He is your Savior. It`s not good enough that your priest, pastor, mother, or aunt knows Jesus, you must know Him for yourself. They cannot believe in Him for you, you must believe for yourself. They cannot repent for you, you must repent for yourself.
Jesus is everywhere all the time. He can hear you now if you ask Him for forgiveness. Please turn your life over to Him now. Time slips by so quickly, don`t miss this opportunity. If you want to pray and ask Jesus to be your Savior, you can say a prayer something like this:
"Jesus, I know that I have sinned against you. I know the truth is that I have sinned by my own choice, and I am the one responsible for it. I know that I have earned punishment from You, and that the fair punishment would be death. Jesus, I believe that You died in my place. Forgive me for my sin. I cannot cover or take my sin away, I am relying totally and only on You. You are the only one who can save me. I reject my sin, I turn away from it, I repent. Come into my life, take away my sin, and show me how to live my life in a way that is right and pleasing to You."
If you have prayed this, YOU ARE SAVED! You are now completely forgiven, a new creation, innocent in the eyes of God. Welcome to the family of God!
It is important for you to start to grow in your relationship with Jesus. Just like any relationship, you need to spend time with someone if you want to know them well. The way to know God is through the Bible. You can start reading your Bible right now!!! A great book to start with is the book of John. It`s also important to find a church you can attend where they teach the Bible. This will allow you to talk with a pastor who will help explain questions you might have, and it will give you a chance to spend time with other Christians who can encourage you.
I go to a church called Calvary Chapel… if you want to find a good Bible teaching church in your area you can go to www.calvarychapel.org and look for a church near you.
God bless you as you get to know Jesus, and grow in your relationship with Him. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me!!! Blessings!
